WILL HUNT, Fernweh (Bird in flight series), 2015
Contemporary sculpture in plaster of Paris, with an acrylic finish
This white bird sculpture looks particularly striking against colourful watercolours or oil paintings.
H 75 cm x W 80 cm x D 50cm
Private viewing by arrangement or at byGillian gallery in Buckinghamshire.
£1,200
Fernweh is a wonderful word in German that’s full of suggestion.
Its common English translation ‘longing to travel’ doesn’t quite conjure up the deep yearning and slight suggestion of sorrow communicated by Fernweh.
WILL HUNT, Halcyon (Bird in flight series), 2015
Small contemporary bird sculpture in plaster of Paris, with an acrylic finish
This small bird sculpture can stand alone on a table top or small plinth, but also complements Fernweh beautifully on a larger plinth. She makes a fine gift for Art appreciators and special birthdays or anniversaries.
H 39 cm x W 45 cm x D 25 cm
Available in white, matt grey and matt black.
Private viewing by arrangement or at byGillian gallery in Buckinghamshire.

Halcyon means serene and tranquil.
Its noun form is “a mythical bird said by ancient writers to breed in a nest floating at sea at the winter solstice, charming the wind and waves into calm.”
Halcyon is also the name of a tropical Asian and African kingfisher with brightly coloured plumage. My late Mum’s favourite bird was the kingfisher. I think the name’s perfect – a small tribute to my mother Sally, born in January, the month of Halcyon days.
